Flip the lever — the side input subtracts and the lamp goes dark.

Comparator (Subtract Mode)
A comparator measures signal strength. A block of redstone holds the rear input at a full 15; the lever feeds the side. In subtract mode the output is rear − side, so the lamp stays lit only while the side input is off. Right-click a comparator to toggle compare / subtract.
